Here at Central Dental Dr Jennifer Jom provides Invisalign treatment for patients who want to straighten their teeth but don’t like the look and feel of traditional braces.
Invisalign are a series of custom-made clear aligners that will gradually shift crooked teeth into a desired position.
They are suitable for adults and some children who have mild cases of crooked, overlapping or misaligned teeth. They are great for anyone wanting to improve their smile.
The length of an Invisalign treatment can vary – it is case dependent but is also affected by how each patient responds to the aligner treatment. In most cases it will be between 12-18 months.
The greatest benefit of Invisalign is that they can’t be seen!
Patients also love that the clear aligners can be removed during eating, toothbrushing and flossing. Patients report that they experience less pain and discomfort than the traditional wire braces with brackets.
In more complex Orthodontic cases, metal braces may be more suitable than Invisalign. This is a discussion that we will initially have with you and if your case is more complicated, we may refer you out an Orthodontist from our trusted referral network.
Invisalign may move teeth slower than braces and may not work on certain teeth which is why it is important to have your situation assessed by a dentist or Orthodontist to determine the best treatment for you.
“It is great to see the change in confidence in my patients as their Invisalign treatment progresses. They may have been putting up with a tooth that has been bugging them for years and they are shocked to see an improvement even with in the first 6 weeks of treatment.”
– Dr Jennifer Jom
In the ‘olden days’ of Orthodontic treatment, patients would have a short time of wearing retainers before being released from all treatment and many found that their teeth, over years, became crooked again.
Nowadays we believe in lifetime retention so that you can enjoy your straighter smile for life. This will be done through either a clear retainer worn at night-time or a fixed lingual, a fixed wire behind the teeth to hold them in place.
At your first Invisalign appointment we will assess your situation and suitability for Invisalign. We are happy to discuss alternatives, costs and pros and cons of each treatment including the differences in costs.
We can give you a quote for your Invisalign treatment, show you some before and after photos from other cases and give you a clear aligner so that you can see what they look and feel like.
